Locally owned and operated under the same family, Donalson Company has been in the fish net business for over 50 years. Our roots began in Galena under the name of Yukon Enterprises during the 1940's. Yukon Enterprises was a general store and fish nets was just another product it carried. In 1953, the general store closed and Yukon Enterprises became Donalson Company. The company relocated to Anchorage and began to mail order fish nets and supplies to Bush Alaska and surrounding areas near Anchorage. We still maintain our annual catalog and still supply fish nets to Alaskan fisherman. Dip nets started 20+ years ago when the Anchorage Fish & Game office asked us to submit a prototype of a dip net replacement bag. The prototype was to be examined in an upcoming proposal to open up the Kenai area to dip netting. Though it is hard to claim to be the first in anything, we can safely say we were one of the original dip net replacement bag makers. We've sold dip net replacement bags out of our shop for over 20 years based pureply on word of mouth.
